Tips for Trainers – The Clothespin

The Clothespin
clothespins
The clothespin has always been a favorite metaphor of mine, and with the creation of Pinterest it has been stamped into eternity! Vintage clothespins have always had a soft spot in my heart. It’s hard to imagine the situation that arose that caused someone to carve clothespins from select tree branches. Most likely for laundry, but who knows! After all, necessity is the mother of all invention. (Believed to have been quoted by Plato)

In the training industry, I often ‘pin’ ideas in my brain that I often come back to when facilitating. It might be a good quote I came across, or a good case study or business example that teaches a good lesson, or a new twist on an old activity. I hope that this newsletter causes you to recall a tip or two that you read over time. What are some of your favorite facilitator tips? I would love to hear some of your tried and true tips.

The obvious, the humble, all-too-often overlooked little clothespin… I salute you

Have fun out there,
